1. CAN
I USE CHIROPRACTIC JUST TO FEEL BETTER?
Yes, you
can use chiropractic for whatever reason you want. But if you are using it for
that reason or until your medical condition goes away, you are missing the whole point of
chiropractic. You are not being fair to your chiropractor, and you are denying
yourself and your family of the real benefits of chiropractic care.
Frankly, the only reason we can see why someone would want to use
chiropractic in that way is because they truly have not understood what chiropractic
is. Please talk to us - your life depends on it!
2. ARE THERE ANY DANGERS TO
CHIROPRACTIC CARE?
It is incumbent upon
all health care providers to explain the dangers of any form of care and also the dangers
of neglecting that care. There are extreme dangers involved in major surgery, but
often failing to perform that procedure constitutes a greater threat to the life of the
patient. Every drug has potential side effects. Compared to medical
procedures, the potential for injury from chiropractic care is negligible. It was
estimated in a 1984 court case that the risk of injury by a chiropractor was between a
million and a billion to one. A million to one odds means the potential from injury
from your chiropractor is about as great as your chance of being struck by lightning on
the way to the chiropractor's office.
The risk of neglecting care must also be understood. A
vertebral subluxation interferes with the proper function of your body. Unless and
until a program of chiropractic care is undertaken to correct those subluxations, there is
no way the body can begin to reach maximum health. There is no way to measure the
damaging effects of vertebral subluxation to any individual body. We simply cannot
know at any given time whether the damage is significant or not, only that there is damage
being done. We trust you do not want to take the chance that it is significant
3. WHEN SHOULD I START TO BRING IN THE FAMILY?
Right Away! The
sooner they begin to receive the life-enhancing benefits of chiropractic, the sooner
changes can take place in their lives. It is never too soon for chiropractic care
and no one is ever too young.
4. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR FIRST ADJUSTMENT
When an adjustment has been made by a
chiropractor there is a restoration of the vital life energy which enables the body to
function at a greater potential. Obviously, the hoped for result is that you will,
in time, experience a greater state of well being in all aspects of your life.
However, that effect often takes time as the body must first reduce the effects of perhaps
years of improper function. Consequently, the most common reaction to an adjustment
is no perceptible difference or change in your state of health. Be assured that
there are positive changes taking place because your body is working better.
Patients feel immediate or almost immediate symptomatic
relief. While we are happy to see that occur, it sometimes causes the patient to
mistakenly conclude that they are once again healthy. As a result, they may
discontinue care. Invariably their problem returns. This approach uses
chiropractic as a giant aspirin for temporary relief and the individual fails to attain
true health. Our program of care is designed to restore and maintain your body in a
maximum state of health, not to give temporary relief.
